Firstto20 built this one himself, and it costs $330.67 to sleeve up all 60 cards. He calls it "Emerald Amethyst Evasives", and you can watch the full deck profile at his YouTube channel. His words: green-purple has always been his favourite colour pair, and with the Core rotation, he finally has something viable to run in it.

Viable is his word, and we're holding him to it. There is no tournament finish attached to this list. What we've done is check all 60 cards against the catalogue and price every copy from our daily feed.

The short version
  • Evasive everywhere. The deck runs 13 Evasive characters and a card that gives the ability to every one of them.
  • Dumbo is the engine. At $59.50 each and four copies needed, he accounts for $238 of the $330.67 total cost.
  • The return suite is the removal. Mother Knows Best, Put That Thing Back, Vixey - Expert Fisher and Chernabog - Unnatural Force all put threats back without needing to challenge them.
  • If you can't afford Dumbo yet, start with Mushu. Mushu - Stealthy Dragon at $9.86 each does real work on his own while you save.

What the deck is actually doing

The plan is simple. Play Evasive characters. Quest with them, because your opponent can't challenge through Evasive without an Evasive of their own. Then use Dumbo - Ninth Wonder of the Universe to convert those quests into cards and lore at the same time.

Dumbo costs 4 ink. His own ability reads: "BREAKING RECORDS: Exert, 1 ink. Draw a card and gain 1 lore." That is already a card and a lore for 1 ink.

But his second line is the real point: "MAKING HISTORY: Your other characters with Evasive gain 'Exert, 1 ink. Draw a card and gain 1 lore.'" Every Evasive character on your board becomes a draw engine. That's the whole game plan in two lines of text.

The card that turns every Evasive into an engine
Draws you back into the game when you're behind
Stays exerted to buff the board

The Evasive shell

The low end is there to go wide fast. Pegasus - Gift for Hercules costs 1 ink and has Evasive. Tod - All Alone costs 1 ink too, and matters more than he looks.

At 2 ink, Frozone - Super Slick has Evasive. White Rabbit - Late Again has Evasive and an Underdog discount. If it isn't your first turn and you didn't go first, you pay 1 ink less to play him.

Then the 3-ink band gets interesting. Mushu - Stealthy Dragon is Evasive and has TIP THE SCALES. Whenever he quests, if an opponent has more cards in hand than you, you may draw a card. He keeps you even on resources. He costs $9.86 each, which is real money, but players treat him as earning it.

Vixey - Forest Friend costs 3 ink and has Evasive. She costs 1 ink less if you have a Tod in play. Tod - All Alone is on the list specifically to make that happen.

Violet Parr - Learning New Powers has Evasive and can move 1 damage off one of your characters onto an opposing one when she enters. That matters when your threats have low willpower.

At 4 ink, Genie - Of the Lamp has Evasive. While he's exerted, your other characters get +2 strength. He isn't there to challenge things. He's there to sit exerted under Dumbo's Making History and buff the rest.

Tod & Copper - Best of Friends has Evasive and Shift 2 ink. Play him cheap onto a Tod and get right into the Evasive count.

Every Evasive character on your board becomes a draw engine. That's the whole game plan in two lines of text.

Returning things instead of fighting them

This deck does not want to challenge. Evasive characters are there to quest, not to trade. So the removal package works differently. It sends things back instead.

Mother Knows Best costs 3 ink and returns a chosen character to their player's hand. Put That Thing Back costs 4 ink and returns a chosen character or item. Both can be sung for free by a character of the right cost. That's important. By mid-game you're often playing one for nothing.

Vixey - Expert Fisher costs 3 ink. Her STEALING IN ability triggers when she enters. If you have an Evasive character in play, you may return a chosen character, item, or location with cost 2 or less to their player's hand. She's free removal on a body that already belongs in this deck.

Rapunzel - Tower Defender costs 4 ink. When you play her, you may discard a card, then return a chosen character to their player's hand. She's flexible. The discard is a cost you choose to pay, not one you have to.

Chernabog - Unnatural Force costs 5 ink, which is the top of the curve. His DARK DANCE reads: when you play him, you may shuffle a chosen opposing character into their player's deck.

If you do, that player may play a character from their discard for free. He gets rid of the largest threats entirely. The tradeoff is real, but shuffling something into a deck is more permanent than returning it to a hand.

Elinor - Renowned Diplomat costs 4 ink and rewards you for going wide. At the end of your turn, if you have three or more exerted characters in play, she deals 1 damage to a chosen opposing character, you gain 1 lore, and you draw a card.

In a deck that wants to exert everything through Dumbo's ability, the case for her is that she triggers almost automatically.

What it costs to build

The total is $330.67 for all 60 cards at cheapest printing. Most of that is in one line.

$238.00Four copies of Dumbo - Ninth Wonder of the Universe, at $59.50 each.

That is 72% of the budget for one card. The rest of the deck is cheap. Everything outside the five most expensive cards costs well under $5 for a playset. Elinor - Renowned Diplomat is $12.55 each, Mushu - Stealthy Dragon is $9.86 each. After those three, you're into dollar-or-less territory.

The inkable count is 50 of 60, which is 83%. The curve peaks at 3 and 4. With an 83% inkable rate, most hands give you something to do each turn.

The full list

Where it's going to struggle

The deck has no way to challenge things that are in the way. If your opponent builds a wide board of their own Evasive characters, your questing lane closes. The return suite helps, but it's reactive. You're spending 3 or 4 ink to clean up problems instead of advancing your own board.

Dumbo himself has to survive long enough to matter. Play him, and your opponent knows exactly why you played him. He's the target. If he gets shuffled into a deck or returned to your hand before you activate Making History even once, that turn was expensive and empty.

Start here if you're building this

If you're ready to commit to the full list, pick up Dumbo - Ninth Wonder of the Universe first. At $59.50 each you're buying four of them, and nothing else in the deck does what he does. The rest of the 60 cards cost less than $92 combined. Dumbo is the decision.

If that price point works for you, sleeve this up in the configuration Firstto20 presents at the link above. If you're testing first, start with Mushu - Stealthy Dragon at $9.86 each.

He's Evasive, he draws you back into games you're losing on cards, and he belongs in the final build regardless. Buy Mushu, proxy Dumbo, and see if the engine feels right before you spend $238 on four cards.

Prices update daily. Price any list as you build it in the deck builder, which reads the same feed as this page, and every card above links to its own page in the card library.
