The deck's nickname is aggro, and that is close enough. But it is not trying to win by running the opponent out of characters. It is trying to win by going so wide, so fast, that the opponent runs out of answers. Those are related but different problems to solve.
Here is the tension worth unpacking: a challenge-lock combo sitting inside an aggro deck sounds contradictory. Pay it off and it makes sense.
The board it wants to build
The curve tells the story cleanly. Eighteen one-drops, twenty-two two-drops, four at three, twelve at four, four at five. The first two turns are almost always productive.
Aurora - Holding Court costs 1 ink. When she quests, you pay 1 ink less for the next Princess or Queen you play that turn. Pocahontas - Guiding the Tribe also costs 2 ink, and when you play her, you may play a 1-cost character for free. These two do similar jobs. Together they compound.
Pluto - Friendly Pooch is 1 ink and his GOOD DOG ability lets you pay 1 ink less for the next character you play that turn. He is not questing for much. He is there to make the next card cost less.
Grandmother Willow - Ancient Advisor is 2 ink. Once per turn, she lets you pay 1 ink less for the next character you play. She stacks with Pluto - Friendly Pooch's effect, which means a 4-cost character can come down on turn two with both in play. That is the opening this deck is building toward.
David - Protective Snowboarder has Bodyguard at 2 ink. He protects the quest pieces while they do their work. Simple role, necessary card.
What finds the pieces
Nani - Stage Manager at 3 ink looks at the top four cards of your deck. She can pull any character with cost 2 or less into your hand. In a deck where the two-drops are doing real work, that is almost always live.

Mike Wazowski - Heroic Climber costs 2 ink. When you play him, and whenever he quests, each player reveals their top card and may put it into their hand if it's a character. Your deck is sixty characters. The odds favour you.
Bobby Zimuruski - Spray Cheese Kid is 1 ink. Play him, draw a card, then choose and discard. He smooths the hand and feeds the curve.
Ursula - Deceiver at 2 ink does something meaner: when you play her, the opponent reveals their hand and discards a song card of your choice. Against decks that rely on songs, that is a real disruption.
The lock and why it's here
Pocahontas - Peacekeeper is 5 ink, Shift 3. That Shift cost is the point. With Grandmother Willow or Pluto in play, she can arrive even earlier.
Her ability, CALMING WORDS, reads: when you play this character, if you used Shift to play her and none of your characters challenged this turn, characters can't challenge until the start of your next turn.
That is a full turn of protection for a board that has been building all game. It buys one more quest step. Sometimes that is enough lore to close it.
She also needs Pocahontas - Guiding the Tribe in play to Shift onto. That is not hard in this list. Four copies of each.
Dale - Ready for His Shot costs 4 ink. His SPIKE SUIT ability means your characters deal damage with their willpower during challenges instead of their strength. That sounds strange until you look at Elinor - Renowned Diplomat.
Elinor - Renowned Diplomat is 4 ink. Her COORDINATED EFFORTS ability triggers at the end of your turn: if you have three or more exerted characters, deal 1 damage to a chosen opposing character, gain 1 lore, and draw a card.
She rewards the wide board. She also rewards exerting to quest rather than to challenge. Dale - Ready for His Shot makes challenging safer for characters with high willpower and low strength. The two work in the same direction.
Rapunzel - Tower Defender at 4 ink lets you discard a card to return a chosen character to their player's hand when she enters play. That clears a blocker or resets a character on your side with an enter-play ability worth triggering again.
What this costs to build
The budget concentrates hard at the top. Pocahontas - Peacekeeper is $25.19 each. Four copies is $100.76. That is 46% of the total $217.16 deck cost in one playset.
Elinor - Renowned Diplomat is $10.74 each, $42.96 for four. Dale - Ready for His Shot is $5.93 each, $23.72 for four. Grandmother Willow - Ancient Advisor is $3.44 each, $13.76 for four.
The rest of the deck is cheap. Thomas - Wide-Eyed Recruit, Pluto - Friendly Pooch, The Queen - Regal Monarch, David - Protective Snowboarder, Ursula - Deceiver: all under $0.50 each.
The deck is an expensive shell built on an inexpensive frame. You can sleeve the cheap half and play something real while you collect the top end.
