- Nothing is running right now, so this week is prep time, not recovery time.
- Two CCQs land on October 10, one in Illinois and one in Seville, Spain. These are Championship qualifiers, meaning spots on the line.
- October 16 is the date to hold. Hyperia City prerelease weekend starts at local game stores, and the I2I Foil Playmat drops at Disney Parks the same day.
- Circle of Life is up 37% this week and Mickey Mouse - Bob Cratchit is up 32%. If you needed those, you missed a window.
Nothing is on right now. No event you are late to, no stream you missed. The calendar is sitting still for a few days, which means you have time to actually do something with what is coming.
Here is what is coming.
Two CCQs on the same day
On October 10, two Championship qualifiers run on opposite sides of the planet. The Cauldron Cup CCQ is in Illinois. Empire Games Seville CCQ is in Seville, Spain. Both are on the same day, which is this Saturday.
A CCQ is not a casual tournament. It is a qualifying event for a Set Championship, meaning a finish deep enough earns you a seat at a larger, higher-stakes event. If you are within driving distance of Illinois or you happen to be in Spain, this is the weekend that matters for competitive play.
If you are not, October 10 is still worth knowing: the field that shows up to a CCQ tends to reflect what serious players think the format rewards, and results from these events shape how decks get built for the next month.
Results are not ours to report yet. They have not happened. But check back after the weekend if you want to know what won.
October 16 is the real reason to read this
Hyperia City is the next set, and prerelease weekend starts October 16 at local game stores.
A card falling that sharply usually means supply caught up or hype cooled off.
A prerelease is where you get the product before the official set release, play a few games with sealed packs, and get your hands on the new cards early. You do not need a polished deck.
You do not need to know the set. You show up, open packs, and build with what you pull. It is one of the better ways to learn a set's mechanics without the pressure of a competitive event.
If your local game store is running a Hyperia City prerelease event, seats usually fill before the weekend arrives. The time to look that up is now, not Friday.
Also on October 16: the I2I Foil Playmat drops at Disney Parks. That one is for collectors and theme park visitors specifically, and it is worth flagging if you are planning a Parks trip around that date.
What the price board said this week
Three cards moved hard enough this week to be worth talking about.
Circle of Life went from $19.17 to $26.19, a 37% jump in a week. Mickey Mouse - Bob Cratchit moved from $20.52 to $27.09, up 32%. Both of those are significant moves.
Cards do not jump 30-plus percent in a week because nothing is happening. Speculation ahead of the Hyperia City prerelease is a reasonable guess, but that is speculation on our part, not a fact in hand.
Mushu - Stealthy Dragon went the other direction, dropping from $7.19 to $4.79, down 33%. A card falling that sharply usually means supply caught up or hype cooled off. If you have been eyeing it, the drop might be an opportunity. If you already hold copies, that is a harder conversation.
These are our own figures, pulled from our daily price feed. Quote them to your friends. The window that made Circle of Life and Mickey Mouse - Bob Cratchit cheap has closed, at least for now.
What to actually do this week
If competitive play is your thing and you are near Illinois, October 10 is two days away. Look up the Cauldron Cup CCQ now.
If you just want to play with new cards, October 16 is ten days out. Find your local game store, ask if they are running a Hyperia City prerelease, and get on the list.
The prerelease format is forgiving, the cards are new to everyone, and it is one of the most fun weekends on the Lorcana calendar. That is the thing worth putting in your calendar before you close this tab.
