Scott Mines over at TCGplayer just ran his August best-sellers list, and his thesis is right there in the title: all Vine, all the time. Mostly true.
But the card that caught my eye sitting at his number five spot is Mickey Mouse & Minnie Mouse - Adventuring Duo, and it tells a different story than the Emerald Steel pile around it.
Mines notes that most of their sales came as "a late surge after the North American championship." That matters. A card that spikes after a tournament is responding to something real, though one month of sales data is not a guarantee it holds.
- Duo Shift 0 means you can play a 7-cost, 5/5 that quests for 5 lore for free if you already have a Mickey Mouse and a Minnie Mouse on the board.
- THINKING OF YOU keeps it alive. When it would be banished, it goes into your inkwell exerted instead, which is protection and ink generation at once.
- The player copy costs $7.27. The Enchanted printing costs $433.64. Same card text, very different reasons to buy.
- Gaston - Superior Archer banishes it outright because its strength meets his threshold, and that card is currently $0.63.
What you're actually getting for free
The core appeal is simple. Mickey Mouse & Minnie Mouse - Adventuring Duo costs 7 ink normally. But if you have a Mickey Mouse and a Minnie Mouse already in play, Duo Shift 0 lets you put this on top of both of them for nothing. Zero ink. A 5/5 that quests for 5 lore, for free.
That's the turn that wins games. Five lore in a single quest is enormous. Most decks cannot absorb that without answering it immediately.
And answering it is the interesting part.
The protection that changes the math
THINKING OF YOU reads: "If this character would be banished, put them into your inkwell facedown and exerted instead."
So the obvious response, challenging it into something big enough to trade, does not work the way your opponent expects. They remove it from the board, sure. But it doesn't go to the discard. It becomes ink, facedown, in your inkwell. That's a resource, not a loss. You are being paid for the removal.
Buy the $7.27 version. You're getting identical rules text for about two percent of the price.
Banish effects that don't care about stats still answer it fully. Goofy - Klutzy Skier does it for 3 ink. Firefly Swarm does it conditionally at 3 ink. None of those trigger THINKING OF YOU: the card still goes to the inkwell, but you lose the board presence without the challenge window.
World's Greatest Criminal Mind at 3 ink hits it because its strength meets that threshold. Gaston - Superior Archer at 5 ink does the same thing: "you may banish chosen character with 5 strength or more," and Adventuring Duo has exactly 5. Both of those bypass THINKING OF YOU entirely because they're banishes, not challenges.

Let It Go at 5 ink puts it into the inkwell directly rather than banishing it, which sidesteps the ability differently but reaches the same result: it leaves the board.
Where it stops working
The condition that makes Duo Shift 0 free is also the deck-building tax. You need a Mickey Mouse and a Minnie Mouse in play at the same time to shift for nothing.
Pay the full 7 ink and it's still a 5/5 questing for 5 lore, but at that cost you need to be winning already. The free version requires a specific board state that your opponent knows you want.
Disrupting the setup cards before Adventuring Duo arrives is the answer most decks should be looking for. And Gaston - Superior Archer at $0.63 is the cheapest live answer once it lands.
Two prices, two different buyers
Here's where we have something Mines can't. Our daily feed shows two versions of this card at very different prices.
The ordinary printing, the one you sleeve and play, is *$7.27*. That's the player's purchase.
The Enchanted printing is *$433.64*. Same card text, word for word. That price isn't about THINKING OF YOU or Duo Shift 0. It's about scarcity, art, and the characters on it. Mickey and Minnie together in a single frame carry demand that mechanics alone don't explain.
Buy the $7.27 version. You're getting identical rules text for about two percent of the price.
What to do with this
If you're building around Mickey Mouse & Minnie Mouse - Adventuring Duo, your real question isn't whether the card is good in this context. The late surge Mines documented is one data point worth taking seriously.
Your question is whether you can reliably land both a Mickey Mouse and a Minnie Mouse on the board in the turns before you want to shift, because without that, you're paying 7 ink for a very large character in a format that has cheap answers to large characters.
Test the shift line specifically. If your games are consistently setting it up, the card earns its slot. If you're putting the full 7-ink cost down more than once every few games, that's a signal the supporting cast needs work, not the Duo itself.
Shifting onto an existing character is still considered playing that character under the Comprehensive Rules, so all timing rules around playing characters apply to Duo Shift 0 as well.
If you're ready to act on this, pick up the $7.27 Legendary printing, build the Mickey and Minnie support package around it, and run the shift line in your next few practice sessions before committing to a full list.
Prices update daily. Price any list as you build it in the deck builder, which reads the same feed as this page, and every card above links to its own page in the card library.
