Pocahontas - Peacekeeper sits at $33.64 at the low end of the market, which already tells you something. When a card has a floor that high, players have decided it does something real. Scott Mines at TCGplayer summarised her role in one line: "Shift into Pocahontas - Peacekeeper and enjoy the view."
That's the whole pitch. Let's find out whether the view is worth it.
- Pocahontas - Peacekeeper costs 5 ink, or 3 via Shift onto any character named Pocahontas.
- CALMING WORDS locks out challenges until your next turn, but only if you used Shift and none of your characters challenged first.
- The playable Legendary costs $33.64. The Iconic printing is a collector's card at $982.06 and plays exactly the same.
- She works best as a tempo swing, not a win condition on her own. Build the board first, then land her.
What she actually does
Pocahontas - Peacekeeper is a 5-cost Floodborn with 3 strength and 6 willpower, questing for 2 lore. The stat line is sturdy but not the point.
The point is CALMING WORDS: "When you play this character, if you used Shift to play her and none of your characters challenged this turn, characters can't challenge until the start of your next turn."
Read that carefully. Nobody challenges. Not your opponent. Not you. The whole table freezes.
If you've just laid down a board, that freeze is devastating. Your characters quest unchallenged. Your opponent's characters sit there exerted and useless. You collect lore while they watch.
The two conditions that matter
Here's the tension. Two things have to be true at once. You must Shift her, and none of your characters can have challenged that turn.
That second condition is the one that bites. If you swung earlier in the turn, because something was threatening you, CALMING WORDS does nothing. She drops as a 3/6 for 3 ink through Shift, which is still fine value, but you lost the effect. The ability rewards patience, and patience is hard when your opponent is threatening your board.
So you need to go into the turn knowing you're landing her. Don't challenge first. Let the threat sit.

How she gets on the board early
Mines highlights cost reduction as the engine behind the Amber Amethyst shell she slots into. Grandmother Willow - Ancient Advisor pays 2 ink less for the next character you play, and Hamm - Piggy Bank does the same thing from an exert. Both cards let you land a 5-drop a full turn ahead of schedule.
That matters more than it sounds. Peacekeeper arrives before your opponent has had time to build an answer.
That early landing is where the freeze is most punishing. Your opponent has fewer characters in play and fewer options for dealing with the board you just protected.
Nobody challenges. Not your opponent. Not you. The whole table freezes.
What actually stops her
Her 6 willpower keeps her safe from most challenge-based removal. That's the good news.
The bad news is that CALMING WORDS says nothing about non-challenge damage. Strength of a Raging Fire deals damage equal to the number of characters you have in play, and that number can get large. He Hurled His Thunderbolt deals 4 damage to a chosen character.
Both go straight through CALMING WORDS, because neither one is a challenge. A 6-willpower character is not unkillable. She just needs enough damage stacked against her.
Banish effects skip the damage step entirely, so they're the cleanest answer of all. Red Alert banishes any character with 3 strength or less for 4 ink, and she has exactly 3, so those 6 willpower never enter the conversation.
Red Moon Ritual does it unconditionally for 7, or for free when characters with total cost 7 or more exert to sing it as a group. If your opponent is holding either, the freeze doesn't save her.
And if you can't Shift her, CALMING WORDS does not trigger at all. That is not a risk, it is the card's own wording: no Shift, no freeze. A 5-ink 3/6 that quests for 2 is not why she costs what she costs, so the Shift is the plan, not a discount on it.
Where she fits alongside the rest
Mines is clear that Dale - Ready for His Shot reshapes how the Amber shell challenges, with SPIKE SUIT flipping challenges to willpower damage. Pocahontas - Peacekeeper at 6 willpower becomes genuinely threatening in that context. She's not a standalone piece; she's a component.
Elinor - Renowned Diplomat rewards having three or more exerted characters at end of turn with damage, lore and a card. A protected board full of exerted questers feeds that trigger directly. The freeze Peacekeeper creates sets up Elinor's end-of-turn check without giving your opponent a window to challenge your exerted characters off the table.
Is she worth building around
She's a tempo piece that rewards a specific kind of turn construction. You need a Pocahontas in play to Shift onto, you need to hold your challenges, and you need enough board presence that the freeze actually punishes your opponent. That's three conditions, not two.
When they all line up, the effect is as strong as Mines suggests. When they don't, she's a 3/6 that quests for 2.
The play decision is this: if you're building Amber and already have a Pocahontas curve, she earns her slot. If you're buying into her price tag hoping she carries a different shell, she won't.
Test her in a deck that already runs cost reduction and Pocahontas base characters. See how often you're actually holding your challenges to land the freeze, versus being forced to challenge early to protect yourself. That rate tells you whether she belongs in your build or theirs.
