Hyperia City prereleases October 16, 2026 in game stores and select Disney Parks. That's the first date you can sit down and play with the new cards, so preorders open now are your way in before the shelves are picked over.

The set brings Glimmers from Disney and Pixar's Coco into the game for the first time, alongside returning Disney Princesses and Mickey Mouse. And it introduces one mechanical idea that Ravensburger has built the whole set around.
Ink drops are the mechanic. The release defines them exactly: "ink drops are a counter providing players a one-time-use ink they can spend to play cards from their hand or potentially empower other cards." That's the whole definition, because the cards themselves aren't out yet.
What we know is that it's a counter, it's single-use, and it can either pay for a card or do something else depending on what's in front of you. Lukas Litzsinger, Lead Game Designer at Ravensburger, puts it plainly: "Ink drops can completely change the tempo of a game." That claim will get tested the moment prereleases start.
Ravensburger said they "really wanted to focus in on a single mechanic in this set," which means Hyperia City is deliberately narrow. One mechanic done deeply, not several done lightly. Whether that plays well or creates a lopsided experience is something October 16 will answer, not this article.
The two Iconic cards are Cinderella - Unintentional Icon and Mickey Mouse - Best in Town. Iconic is the rarest rarity in the game. Both are named in the release; neither has been described mechanically yet, so anything beyond the name is speculation.
Six cards, 23 copies each, total.
Liz Richards, Art Director at Ravensburger, said: "There is something for everyone to enjoy in Hyperia City." The set's flavour is built district by district. The Marigold District hosts Coco Glimmers in street performances.
The M.A.G.I.C. academy is where Big Hero 6 characters like Honey Lemon show up, narratively tied to the ink drop research. Old Towne Hyperia, the Wandering Straits, and City Center round out the map.
The bigger news in the announcement is further out. Into the Inkdark, the first 2027 set, introduces collector boosters. Those are different from standard boosters in one specific way: the release states that "Illustrious cards are exclusive to collector boosters," so a standard booster box cannot contain one.
Both product types hold 12 randomized cards of all rarities, which means the card count isn't the difference. The Illustrious cards are.
What makes Illustrious significant is the print run. The release states: "There will be 6 Illustrious cards in each set, and only 23 of each will be printed." Six cards, 23 copies each, total. That means 138 Illustrious cards will exist across the entire first set that includes them.
The release also notes they are "the first serialized Disney Lorcana TCG cards," which means each copy carries a number. Collector boosters are available at select Ravensburger Play Hub stores and Disney Parks, not at mass retail, so even finding the right product is a constraint before the odds come into play.
Beyond Into the Inkdark, Spring 2027 brings Cosmic Quest, with Ariel, Stitch, and the first-ever Glimmers of WALL-E and EVE. Late 2027 has something described only as "a certain magical mayhem." Both are too far out to say more than what the release says.
Hyperia City is available everywhere October 23rd. That's one week after prereleases, which means the wide release date is when most players will actually get access if they're not in a game store on the 16th.
Here's what to do with all of this. If you want to play with ink drops the day they're legal, find a prerelease near you and register before spots fill.
If you're interested in Illustrious cards, note that they arrive with Into the Inkdark in 2027 and only through collector boosters at specific retail locations, so a plan to buy standard boxes at launch will not get you there.
And if Coco or Big Hero 6 characters matter to your collection, Hyperia City is your first chance at Dreamborn versions of both.
