Everything Lorcana Announced at D23 2026, and What Was Not

Ravensburger spent most of its D23 panel on the next twelve months. Then, in its own words, "to close out the presentation, Ravensburger staff made a surprise announcement": Disney Lorcana is coming to desktop and mobile.

That is the headline everywhere. The more revealing line was the roadmap. The team is "actively planning sets through 2029 and beyond."

Almost nothing announced changes a card that is legal today. Everything announced changes what the game is in two years.

The card only eight people will own

Ravensburger's own Challenge page says it plainly:

"...with all new serialized golden Hades - Dark Usurper cards to win."

A panel slide showed the same card in three poses, one per rung of the competitive ladder, each serial numbered.

Its ability is called ABOVE THE RULES, and it appears to let you win outright by revealing your inkwell. That sounded impossible, so we checked it against our own database.

The question	What our data says
Has Lorcana ever printed an alternate win condition?	No One card in 3,242 has mentioned winning, and it raises the opponent's bar instead.
Is that card even relevant?	No Set 7, rotated out. Not legal in the format the Challenge is played in.

Where you can actually see it. Ravensburger has not published the card's text anywhere yet, so the only look at it is from the show floor. A Reddit user photographed the prize display and posted it, and the reaction sums it up better than we could: "basically a Yu-Gi-Oh Exodia-type card, and of course they gave it to Hades."

One thing we are not going to state as fact: the serial tiers circulating, 250 for a Challenge Top 8, 36 for a Championship, 8 for the World Championship. Those come from reading a photographed sign. Ravensburger has published no print run, and until it does, treat those numbers as what they are.

What a Challenge prize card actually looks like

Nobody outside the show has seen Dark Usurper properly. But this is not Lorcana's first tournament prize card, and the previous ones tell you what to expect: alternate art, premium foil, and a price tag. You cannot win one without playing, but you can absolutely buy one, which is exactly why they hold value.

There are 19 of these in the game so far. Dark Usurper joins them, and if the win condition is real it will be the most consequential of the lot.

Illustrious: the arithmetic nobody did

Six cards per set. "Only 23 serialized copies of each Illustrious card will be printed each set."

Iconic, the rarity it displaces, runs two per set with no published cap, and Iconics already clear four figures.

That is the catch, and our card data confirms it is structural rather than a one-off. Illustrious cards rework characters from Lorcana's earliest sets, and every one of those sets has rotated out of Core Constructed. Core is sets 9 through 13.

Collector Boosters are permanent

One correction worth making, because it is being reported as an Into the Inkdark novelty: every set gets Collector Boosters from here on, and standard boosters are not changing at all. Twelve foil cards from the same set list, with higher rarities appearing more often than in a normal pack.

Enchanted cards, the full-art tier that already exists. When Ravensburger says higher rarities more often, this is the shelf it is pointing at.

Hyperia City, and the genuinely new thing

Set 14. Prerelease 16 October 2026, everywhere 23 October. Tagline: "Drop in for a Beat."

The name is not invented. Hyperia nods to Hyperion Studio, the Walt Disney lot that ran 1926 to 1940, where Mickey Mouse was created.

• Five locations. Land of the Dead - Marigold Bridge, Merlin's Shop and Smithy - Magical Market, Khan Industries - Greenway Landmark, Institute of Technology - Honey Lemon's Lab, Khan Stadium - State of the Art.
• Three glimmers. Minnie Mouse - Urban Visionary, Donald Duck - Taxi Driver, Mickey Mouse - Best in Town.
• Coco debuts. Miguel and Hector Rivera as street musicians, Un Poco Loco as a song, and Pepita the alebrije.

And buried in Disney's recap is the biggest gameplay news of the panel: ink drops, "one-time bursts of ink power." A new energy source, in a game whose entire economy is ink.

Digital, and what was actually promised

Elaine Chase, Ravensburger's Head of TCGs, framed it as reaching "as many Disney fans as possible." Disney's recap calls it additive to physical play, not a replacement.

What was committed to is narrower than the coverage suggests:

• A public test, not a launch.
• No developer named. "Our mission in the Ravensburger TCG studio" points in-house without confirming it.
• No date. The repeated 2027 figure traces to one outlet that contradicts itself two sentences apart.
• No word on your collection. "Every card" is an over-read of a marketing line.
• US only. The signup loads on the US site and 404s on the UK and German ones.

This ground has been walked before, and Disney already drew the line once.

Pixelborn, a free unofficial client, shut down in June 2024 after Disney asked its developer to stop. There is also already an official free Companion app with a card library and deck builder. This is a different and much bigger thing.

The Curator's Collection, and a date nobody can agree on

All six are public: Belle - Hidden Archer, Beast - Tragic Hero, Lumiere - Fiery Friend, Mrs. Potts - Enchanted Teapot, Gaston - Intellectual Powerhouse, and a Be Our Guest song, timed to the film's 35th anniversary.

Two official Disney channels disagree on when. Ravensburger's newsroom says "releasing this October," meaning 2026. The Disney Parks Blog says October 2027. We are not picking a side.

The roadmap, in order

Ravensburger named more of its future at this panel than at any point since launch. Set numbers are ours, not theirs: no outlet covering the panel published them, and they are the quickest way to see how much is already mapped.

• 16 October 2026Hyperia City, set 14 Coco debuts. Ink drops arrive. Everywhere on 23 October.
• 1 November 2026Collector's Guide, sets 9 to 13 The book most roundups missed entirely.
• Q1 2027Into the Inkdark, set 15 "The fearsome and frightful set." Hades hatches a plan. Collector Boosters and Illustrious cards debut here.

• Spring 2027Cosmic Quest, set 16 Closes year four. Ariel was teased in an astrosuit.
• 2027EPCOT Festival of the Arts, and the cruise fleet Figment's first ever card. Our data confirms he has appeared in zero sets across three years.
• UnannouncedSet 17, and the digital game Tinker Bell and pixie magic were teased. The team says it is "actively planning sets through 2029 and beyond."

What actually changes for you

• Nothing in your deck. Core is still sets 9 through 13. No bans, no errata, no rotation announced.
• 16 October is the date. Prerelease seats go before the 23rd.
• Chasing an Illustrious? Collector Boosters are going to registered Ravensburger organised play stores and select Disney locations, so ask your local shop whether they will carry them.
• Register at DisneyLorcana.com/digital for the test. Free, and currently the only announced way in.

Still Core, still legal, still fine. Nothing announced at D23 touches what is in your deck today.

If it does what it appears to, it is the first card in Lorcana history to change how you win.
